Beyond the actual services, products, and technology provided by CSB, the organization also offers extensive hands-on assistance, guidance, and support throughout all stages.

  • Speech and Communication Devices – CSB provides installation, support, training, and custom programming of most speech generating devices using any access method. CSB has designed software for Yiddish and Hebrew speech, games, and story books which stimulate speech, as well as setups to mount devices to wheelchairs, beds, and specialty tables.
  • Eye Tracking Communication Services – CSB trains and supports clients on the Tobii Dynavox I-Series™, Smartbox GridPad™, and Eyegaze Edge™ devices, including installation, support, training, and custom programming of these eye tracking systems. CSB adds software programming to these systems for Hebrew and Yiddish languages and to customize necessary features for each client. CSB’s unique integration of support, training, and programming into a single streamlined package enables patients to quickly gain expertise in using their system.
  • Guidance/Tech-Support for Providers – With an unrivaled cumulative knowledge base, CSB is a valuable information resource for therapists, medical professionals, and caregivers. CSB has made educational presentations to schools, teachers, speech pathologists, rehab centers and assorted facilities about new technologies.
  • Rehab Center Tech Evaluation – When clients are evaluated for technology adaptations at rehabilitation hospitals such as Helen Hayes and Rusk, CSB actively participates in the evaluation sessions to ensure that they choose the optimal device. The centers welcome CSB’s expertise and input. Many recognized speech pathologists refer patients to CSB and distribute CSB software to their clients.
  • Assessment and Guidance: CSB’s highly skilled team of technicians and developers is fully familiar with hundreds of software and hardware packages designed specifically for any given disability; they also stay current with emerging solutions. CSB can guide clients to the technologies most ideally suited to them.
  • Jaws and ZoomText Training: CSB CARE assists with training of today’s popular screen readers that allow blind individuals to maintain the use of their computer, phone, and the Internet, thus enabling the option of gainful employment. CSB CARE also trains blind and low vision individuals in the effective use of smartphone and tablet accessibility enhancements.
  • Hebrew Braille Training: Clients typically require 5-10 training sessions to integrate the skills needed for reading Hebrew Braille, eventually mastering both electronic and embossed Braille.
  • Specific Software Training: Many clients have specialized hardware and software requirements significantly beyond the scope of standard computer professionals. CSB provides support, training, and custom programming for these clients.
  • Workplace and School Integration – Many employers and schools welcome individuals with disabilities provided they have the necessary adaptations. CSB addresses every aspect of technology necessary for seamless integration, including screen magnification, text-to-speech/speech-to text-software, electronic Braille systems, specialty keyboards, mice, trackballs, keyguards, embossers, Braille and audio note takers, as well as customized software to fill in the gaps.
